day #56 in 2009-2010
POWDER DAY! A combination of spring break plus powder starved people meant that by 8:30 the parking lot was three-quarters full. And apparently by 9:30, it was full. We got there at 8:30 and just as well. The lines were incredible. I haven't seen anything like it apart from Whistler over Christmas/NY. Fresh tracks for quite a bit of the day. But that first run was spent trying to remember how to actually ride in snow that deep and heavy...remember and be confident. Second run was through tight trees and that was a struggle. It was kinda annoying because by the end of January, I wasn't fazed by 2 feet of snow and tight trees. Sucks that this is a bad snow year. Oh well. And I have never seen the place get tracked so fast. Last thursday we were getting fresh at 3:30...today, gone after lunch. Still SUPER fun. Loads of fresh but because it was heavy, the moguls appeared soon. Although last run of the day, it was chopped but very soft. Heard a couple people yell "Yeah, Lisa, GET SOME!" from the chair...when I ollied over this wind lip into a big powder patch. I almost stacked it trying to see who it was.
