day #17 in 2010-2011
So riding today was like the powder section of Absinthe's NoWhere. It was light, it was fluffy, it was DEEP! And the snow kept falling hard all day. By mid-day, with the free refills, there were sections of waist deep snow. And the snow just keeps on falling.
It was super windy up the top so we rode the Hirafu Gondola for a bit...went over to Hanazono but the wind and slow, wind-affected chairs annoyed us too much. So we headed back to Hirafu. When we got there, it was the biggest gondola lift lines we ever saw. Luckily, we ran into the swedish boys that tried to pick me up on the bus. So we jumped the line and rode for a few hours with them. And for those few hours, it was the most epic riding I've had EVER.
So stoked I rode like a rockstar again today. And it was good chasing good swedish skiers down the mountain. And having swedish skiers kinda break trail on the flat sections for me. And pull me along the cat-track. There were high fives on heavy rotation for much of the day.
Tomorrow is going to be epic as well. It is still dumping and much of the top sections didn't even open today.
Snorkel anyone?
